Considering that Todd is part-Inuit, this does seem a little like an ethnic slur, though I doubt if it was intended to be.

Well... it's really funny in the case of an individual insult; it's not funny at all (to me) in the case of an entire group.
And I guess in some sense it does slander a group regardless... *feels guilty for laughing*

My first and only encounter with the term was in a reader comment clearly intended to refer to Sarah Palin ("...bring McSame and igloo trash into the job especially after what George W. bush has done to our country"). If the term existed before that or if it was ever intended to slur an ethnic or economic group, I'm not aware of it. I assumed it was a play on trailer trash.
But I'm feeling a little of c_b's guilt now myself.

No, I think your initial assumption is correct, skipvia--it's probably just a play on trailer trash and I'm sure it wasn't meant as an ethnic slur.

As a throwaway kind of comment on someone else's blog, it seems perfect to me.
I saw some magpie geese yesterday, which don't come into town all that often. I was about to attempt a moose-goose trump but they flew off before I could get my camera out.

my grandma coined the term "igloo trash," I posted it, now it's a meme. yays!
by the way, for the record this never had anything to do with inuits. in fact, it specifically refers to those who killed off the inuits so they could take over their igloos and drill their land full of oily holes.
